Stephen Haggan

I have been an accountant since 2007 and work with small and medium sized businesses.   My particular areas of interest are start-up businesses, whereby I can provide real strength to new business foundations and support in the right areas as the business grows. I received my Chartered Status from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 2011 which was the culmination of four years of study whilst working in general practice dealing with all aspects of business administration, bookkeeping, accountancy and payroll. In 2013, I was issued with my professional practising certificate which enabled me to found my company Peers & Associates Limited. My client base is very diverse ranging from young professionals just starting their journey into business to much older clients looking for exit strategies. I provide advice and support in a range of areas complimenting accountancy, such as payroll, VAT and bookkeeping which means the clients get a more rounded service and possible savings where the services can overlap. I believe the key to being a good adviser is having a good level of technical knowledge but more importantly the ability to listen and connect with what really matters to clients. I put myself into the clients shoes, if i didn't know much about what to do - then how would I want to receive that advice. I encourage the use of good efficient software to enable time savings to be made on both sides and to keep up to date with current compliancy needs. By dealing with clients on a one to one level, it enables me to build up great relationships which means that I get a full picture of their business and where they want to go with it.
